Advent 2015: Toward the Approaching Light

This year's Advent journey at Open Door is Toward the Approaching Light

The world is not as it should be. Even on our most hopeful and optimistic days, each of us knows this.

We look around us and see our messy world.
We look within us and see our messy selves.

Stories of sadness, brokenness, tragedy, disintegration fill our news cycles and crowd our heavy hearts.

In the midst of all this, Advent begins.

Advent is a season of hope, expectation, longing, and anticipation.

Advent is a season where we sense a new movement of God - joining us in the form of a baby in the midst of our messy neighborhood.

Advent is a season where we sense a call to, ourselves, move - to join God in the world that's being (re)created around us. To enter into life in God's kingdom as Jesus invites us.

Advent is a season to journey Toward the Approaching Light.
