In early June the Hiring Team of Kate Schwass, Kara Lynch, Steve Arnett, and Kerry O'Brien set out to sift through the 17 applications that came in for our Pastor of Worship and Formation position. These applications arrived from local, statewide, national, and international addresses. Initial meetings were held to determine the top candidates that the team would interview beginning mid-June. Those moving forward would be interviewed by a pair from the Hiring Team. After which the Team reconvened to discuss which candidates would warrant a second interview with the other half of the team.
On August 5th, once all candidates moving forward had concluded a second interview, Hiring Team, through prayer and discernment, presented three candidates to Steward Team for their consideration. God gave us three very different candidates, all at different life stages, and all ready to step into what He has in store for our community. One candidate chose to withdraw from consideration. August 24 and 26 have been set aside for Steward Team interviews with our two remaining candidates. After these interviews, Steward Team will discuss, pray, and decide whether it is in our best interest to invite one, both, or neither out for a site visit in early/mid September to meet with the Open Door staff and teams.
As mentioned before, this may not be the way most faith communities would go about a hire, but Open Door is faithfully committed to this process believing it is Spirit-led and integral to God's overall plan for our family.
