Each summer, we recruit a temporary team to help lead Open Door Kids so we can give our regular Kids team a season of sabbath and rest. We're looking for one more volunteer on JULY 22 and JULY 29 to jump in and help make this happen. Can you help? Let Emily (emily@opendooreastbay.com) know!
This past Sunday, we practiced the prayer of examen together. The examen is an ancient prayer that sparks awareness and reflection on how God is at work in your life today. This week, take some time to enter into the examen as an invitation to dwell with God and live into the wisdom and insight of God's spirit.
Quarterly, we join Project Peace East Bay in their Day of Service which connects faith communities to service organizations in our area. On August 25, we invite Open Door to join one of two projects at local schools (both projects are family-friendly): (1) YoungLives @ Crossroads HS (Concord) or (2) Oakland International HS (Oakland). My name is Leah Chambers. I live in Pleasant Hill. My work involves design and creative thinking of all sorts - graphic design, urban design, landscape architecture, and public facilitation. Oh, and I parent two little kids too! For fun, I like to hike, hang out at Pleasant Hill Park, explore our neighborhood One question I'm asking about myself or the world is: how can I be balancing my work, children, self-care, sabbath, and family in a way that is healthy, sustainable, and JOYFUL?
