Prayer is one of the most recognizable of spiritual practices and yet there are so many questions we have about prayer
Why do we pray? What does prayer do?Who or what is prayer supposed to change?
In the gospels, Jesus makes a big deal out of prayer. He was a fanatic about prayer – short prayers, long prayers, public prayers, communal prayers, etc. And the people who followed him around every day noticed this and they saw good, life-changing things happen through the prayers of Jesus. So they wanted to pray like that too.“One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray.” (Luke 11:1)We'll spend the first four weeks of this journey looking at the prayer Jesus taught his followers to pray, and the second half of the journey will focus on praying with the Psalms, the collection of prayers were written and recorded to guide us in our prayer.
